I’m going through my 1950 Case DC for the upcoming year of tractor shows & pulling.
I was having a problem with the tractor drifting to the right and eventually spinning out on the same side with a lot of engine power left.
I planned on overhauling the brakes this year for they are rusted up and worn out. Case IH can get me the linings at about $76.00 a side plus my labor to change them out. Any suggestions on the best place to get linings or this service? Is this a fair price?
While I am into the transmission housing to replace the differential seals I would like to tune up the differential and drive chains. I have measured the differential bearing free play at .0115 and have taken out a .013 shim to get about .0015 preload on the differential bearings. Is there any thing I should check or watch out for with the spider gears? I plan on adjusting the drive chains to the 1-inch slack mark. I really have not seen much wrong inside for the drifting problem. How touchy is the chain adjustment for a pulling problem? For the right side now is about ¼ tighter than the left side. Would any one have any suggestions or set up tips?
