Should the chrome lights (from Steiner) I put on my 1953 DC be painted black or flambeau red?

I like black, because of the striking contrast. I like black starters also. But, someone will probably have a picture from the assembly line showing them flambeau. So, paint scheme is yours to decide. After all, it is YOUR tractor. gobble

Tom, My sentiments exactly, the purists would scream but if he wants them purple with Polka dots it is his business!!

Let us remember how the DC tractors were painted. Production driven. Correct painted starters were painted Flambeau Red.
and the gun did not get enough paint behind the starter. I speculate that the headlight was painted black to hinder
reflecting back to the operator. Just saying. Insert humor here.CM

I like black lights. Also like to see black starters and generators. They match the black decals and tie everything together.

And yet my owner's Manual for a late DC shows the starter as black...and the generator flambeau.

Lights and gen on my all original 53 DC are black. Starter have to look?
