Dc to 12volt

Hello
I would like to ask you guy a question about converting a detractors to 12 volts.
I have checked the archives on this sight and found diagrams, but I would like to stay with the magneto wich should be easier but not sure how to proceed so if some one has a diagram can you please share. As I just can't picture it.no pun intended
Thanks for all the help and support I've gotten over the years, and I have my fingers crossed one more time

Thanks Bob

don't think it will be to complicated just a 12 generator ,regulator and battery unless you go with an alternator. I'm sure someone will be more detailed. I apologize for stealing your post but the question I have on this is what affect the increased cranking speed will have on the impulse phase of the mag thanks.

I usually like to keep things original, but sometimes a DC needs help. We converted a DC to 12V many years ago when I put a snow plow on it. I took the 6V Gen to a shop who converted the Gen to 12V. Later, I was told that I could have done it myself simply by replacing the 6V Regulator with a 12V regulator. Once you've done that, and replaced the 6V bulbs with 12V bulbs, and replaced the battery, that is all there is to it. The Magneto will not know the difference, and the DC will not spin over fast enough, even with 12V to affect the Mag. impulse.

hanks that was my concern. I've jumped an sc with 12 volts and thought it was turning to fast for the impulse. Does anyone know what kind of primary voltage those mags generate.

I just replace the 6v with a 12v and no other work or anything changed. Has worked fine for years. Its not a parade tractor just casual summertime use and only charge the battery a couple times a season. DC has a newer mag and fires up on a couple revs so not much drain.
