Debating on new tractor.

I have a 1720d right now and it's been great only work I've had to is a head gasket over the years.Ive been looking at the newer tractors and always would have liked a backhoe attachment.I'm looking at the smallest new ones with backhoes,I really don't need anymore power then what my current 1720d has.I looked at a LS Mt125 today and was very impressed,even more so to see it had a Yanmar motor.I guess my concern is are the newer tractors more just bells and whistles and plastic,are they as much tractor persay.I don't need no fancy bells and whistles on a tractor if you get what I mean.Has anyone made the jump to a more modern rig and how have you liked or disliked it.m hesitant to let my trust worthy paid for Yanmar go.Seems the wife is on board with it,but I'm not sure I am 100%.Thanks Aaron

I am not knowledgeable on the LS tractors. I do own a South Korean made Bobcat (disguised Kiot) and it is well put together. Some of the newer electrical controls sound a little scary to me such as the push a button pto. No doubt the Yanmar engine would be quality. Really no help for you but if you do get it give some feedback. Always interested in these things.

My opinion is that if you are going to get a 'newer' tractor then be sure you have a good dealer nearby because you will likely need them at some point. There are systems on those tractors now that, no matter how handy you are, you can not troubleshoot or fix on your own- especially when you get into the new emissions stuff.

Any idea when the tractors started being regulated by emissions.I hadn't thought about that but that is definitely a valid point.

I think the Tier4 emissions standards were mandated in 2015 for tractors under 175hp. Some may have been introduced before that though.

Some of the lower powered engines seem to have passed the Tier 4 with just a little fine tuning (or de-tuning). Others require DEF, DPF, EGR and all sorts of complicated electronics to control them.
