Deere 110 charging problem

Hi guys, I have a John Deere 110 with a charging problem. I just rebuilt the engine after a rod failure, and on reassembly she runs great, but the battery is not charging.

I have poured over the Kohler manual at http://www.kohlerengines.com/common/resources/tp_2379.pdf but for the life of me I cannot figure out how many amps my charging system is since none of the diagrams seem to match up with what I have.

I do not know the year, but I think it MIGHT be 1967. I can grab the serial number if you can tell me where to find it.
It has an 8HP Kohler 181S, a coil, a starter/generator, and an external voltage regulator.

My battery only shows around 9 Volts when running (I had to jump to get it started) and voltage steadily decreases. I would like to begin testing the V/R and S/G, but until I can figure out what I have and a matching diagram I am a bit stuck.

I will tell you what I know:
The starter/Gen has two terminals labeled A and B.
The Voltage Reg has four terminals-- one on top, and three on bottom, with another one which simply grounds the unit.
Other than the standard coil, points, plug, and kill switch so I can't start with the deck engaged, that is about all there is save a generator light.

Anyway, help me identify what I am working with and then we can start testing.

The 110 operator's manual has a wiring diagram. 1-800-522-7448.
ebay has a vast selection of bolt in starter-gen sets up to 25amp charging capacity.
The factory Delco was 15amp.

Ok, I ran out to the garage on the way to work and this is my best interpretation of the serial number:

SNT1031043199M

I also found a wiring diagram at www.weekendfreedommachines.org but I'm afraid to use it because they said it was wrong...

One key bit of information I am interested in is the difference between the A and B terminal of the starter/generator.

Ooops, looks like the terminals are actually A and F. I guess I have a little bit too much grease and dirt to read it correctly.

The same url has a wiring diagram (the one that is wrong), but the last post tells what is wrong about it.

I guess now I just need direction on where to start testing in order to see why I am not charging.
