Is there an easy way to move a dead machine ? Looked at one last night and it didn't seem to move to easy by hand. Good shape just need to get running for a friend and rather leave it where it's at than dragging it home. Never worked on one before, found I need a plug and wire for sure, are the points out in the open or under flywheel. thanks chris

If the clutch pedal is down it might be in park. If it's an 8 horse the points are under a cover on the front of the engine. Never worked on a 10 horse. You'll probably want to take the grill insert out and take off the air cleaner assembly to gain better access.

As Tim said, it should move freely in neutral unless the parking brake is set and no harm in towing it within reason as it is not a hydro.

A 112 could have either a Kohler or Tecumseh engine based on serial number. If a Tecumseh it may have an "out of production" electronic ignition module, although I think GOOGLE can find some solutions to that. I'm NOT sure if the Kohler variants with EI were also used in these machines, should that be an issue a breaker point changeover can be installed.

If you are lucky and it's a Kohler, the official engine manual is linked below.

Thanks, and yes it is a Kohler.

Just thought of this: There is a fine spring that goes from the park pawl to a cotter pin a couple inches above it. If that spring breaks the park pawl might fall into a cog and you'll be scratching your head why it won't come out of park.
