Deere 6068T injection pump

Hello, I have a 2001 6.8 deere diesel I’m looking to build for more hp. Cam and head work, turbo and of course the injection pump, it has a Motorpal inline pump. I’m told they are pretty much a Bosch A pump, will they switch right out? Can I put a P pump on it? Looking for about 500 hp without too much smoke. Also can I get bigger injectors. Who should I get to set up the pump? Thanks!

In the Bosch line, the P size pump has a larger pilot flange than the A pump has and they will not interchange. On any JD inline pump, you will want to replace all the barrels and plungers to get rid of the retard start notch plungers the stock pumps have if you want maximum delivery.

Thanks! so is the motorpal pump an ok pump? Is it possible to find parts for it?

I wonder if i should swap it out for a Bosch A pump. Would that be a better option? If so which model pump would I need to get the hp im wanting? Or are all the A pumps built exactly the same? Thanks!

I was told that the Motorpal pump was a Bosch A pump clone, though maybe it would bolt right up. If I can get the hp out of the Motorpal pump I’ll probably get it redone, I was told it was hard to find parts for that pump. That’s why I was thinking about switching to Bosch. Thanks for your help, sorry for the ignorance….
