I was sorting through some old pictures today and I stumbled across a couple that I had taken of a stationary engine at a railway museum near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I know nothing about this engine, but I thought someone might like seeing the pictures.

I see that the engine is pinned down, but I was not smart enough at the time to notice what it was set up to power. I apologize for that failure.

JD-W111 stationary power unit.. Factory built unit based off the early John Deere D engine.. Belt-pulley only.

In the 1940's my late Father, was with a company that had the same model of Power Unit running the HEAD RIG sawing pine planking 2 X 14 X 20' Long.

Timber was from the Munkman Pass close to the Alberta British Columbia border...East side of the Rocky Mtns.

Thanks for posting the pic PJH

Several years ago my son and I were on a tractor search trip in the panhandle of Texas and were referred to a fine fellow in the Abernathy area, just north of Lubbock, who gave us a tour of his John Deere collection. He had several of those stationery engines and even had one that was modified to run off natural gas and IIRC, he said it had been used to run an irrigation pump in it's earlier life. Also remember he had a small shed which was completely full of pedal tractors of various makes. It was a very interesting visit. Should have taken pictures.
