Delco Generator Conversion to 12V Help

I have a delco generator off of a Cat D4 that has a bad armature (Cat p/n 8F-3333/Delco 1102734 6V 18 amp CW rotation). I'm looking for help to understand what is needed to convert from 6v to 12v. I previously had the pony motor starter rebuilt and converted it to 12v and am now looking to do the generator myself. I found the commutator had varying resistance from bar to bar and from what I could find means it is bad. I tested the field coils and those do appear to be good (no short to ground). Besides getting a 12v voltage regulator, can anyone help understand what armature/coils I need to convert to 12v? Any recommendations on places to buy parts?

Thanks

I assume it should be the same, but on the short case Delcos that I convert, the 12 volt portion is the field windings, the armature is the same. Field coils in general right now can be a little hard to find, especially the 12 volt.
