Detroit 3-71 Engine Weight

Does anyone know what the weight of a 3-71 is. I am going to overhaul mine, and need to know how heavy to build the engine stand. Also any suggestions as to a good source of parts, I have been considering one of the kits available from Clevite. Thanks for the help

Per this site its weight is 1525 Lbs.

Apox. 1000 lbs then add weight for bell housing & other ginger bread. Have you decided to keep your 990 that's been listed on YT ads off and on?

Yeah I have decided to keep the ol girl and go through it right. I,ve had no luck selling it, had a couple people want to trade 1900s then back out. Oh well might have traded one PIG-IN-A-Poke for another! At least this way I will know what I have in the tractor, and that it was done right. Might have to make a trip down to your place for parts and info.

The 3-71 weighs a tad over 1500 pounds. Be sure and get a copy of the Oliver Heritage maginze that has an article on rebuilding a 3-71. It should give you all the information you need to make informed decisions rebuilding one if these engines for your tractor depending on what you want to do with it.
