Dewalt 14.4 batteries

Have a driver/drill which I like except when the two original batteries went to, well, you know where, replacements where no longer available so my battery dealer rebuilt them and they were OK for a while but failed prematurely so I bought a pair of after market which were junk as they didn't even fit the drill or charger without using excess pressure to load them. So......had them rebuilt again with not great success. Now they won't recharge and are useless. What can I do except trash the old 14.4 driver and get a new 20V replacement? I have a 20V 1/2" impact which I really like but maybe it is time to change brands??

Search for Dewalt 14.4 on Amazon, there's a bunch of batteries.

As far as changing brands.....I've got a few Milwaukee tools, but the majority of what I do is still accomplished with my old 19.2 Craftsman tools.

I have some old DeWalt 14.4 tools and those NiCad batteries are no longer satisfactory. I have decided to upgrade to 20 Volt lithium even if there may be cheaper ways to go. Ifffffffffffffffff I were starting completely all over I would go with Milwaukee instead of DeWalt. Amazon has all the batteries of any voltage as well as all the 14/20 adapters you would ever need.

Gotta love the new 20 volt Lithium tools woooooooooo hooooooooooo

I have some old DeWalt 14.4 tools and those NiCad batteries are no longer satisfactory. I have decided to upgrade to 20 Volt lithium even if there may be cheaper ways to go. Ifffffffffffffffff I were starting completely all over I would go with Milwaukee instead of DeWalt. Amazon has all the batteries of any voltage as well as all the 14/20 adapters you would ever need.

I also chose to go the 20v adapter route. I've been pleased.

See if there is an adapter available for your tool to one of the common modern battery types. You can safely run 20V batteries on 14.4v tools as long as you are careful, and if you're not careful, well, that gives you a good excuse to upgrade to newer tools.

I'm interested in this also. My 14.4v drills are my favorite (just because I've had them so long). I know they are clunky and heavy, but paid for!

Thankfully, my local battery rebuilder guy does a good job. I don't know what kind of sub-C cells he uses, but the batteries he re-did have been going strong for a couple years. (not daily user)

I was ready to pitch those Craftsman 19.2v tools several years ago....until my wife bought me a lithium battery for them. Big difference.
And there is no doubt the Milwaukees are MUCH better tools...I have some....but mostly my old Craftsman tools are getting it done.
Had a couple people give me 19.2 Craftsman tools 'cause they didn't want them any more...they still work for me.

I bought an adaptor for my Dewalt saw, to my Makita batteries, works great.

I tried adapter so my 14.4V tools can use 20V batteries and it worked great. I have since gotten one on all my 14.4V stuff and now just use 20V batteries on everything.
