DeWalt battery question

20v 5Ahr battery for the blower. I meant to take it in to charge and got distracted. It was out in a hard rain for a while. Will it be OK? Haven't charged it yet just in case. Not complaining about the rain. It's the first we've had since mid-August.

That’s a loaded question, however if it was me I would find a warm dry place and let it dry for a few days, then move charge some place safe and charge it. Just to be safe and would be around when you do. I am not the battery guy here, but what I would try.

well I am going to admit something most wouldn't..... My cordless tools get left in the rain way to often. between children and myself as well. do a job leave tools and get back to baleing and leave it on the back of the truck. My batteries are rained on often. I just shake it all off and stick it in the charger. Heat from charging dries it out faster. I do spray wd40 on it often first and then shake the excess off and wait 1/2 hour then charge. I have in 10 years only had one battery fail. not sure if from water but I am sure the water doesn't help. On the plus side I am building a shop this year so I have a place to put my tools other than the back of trucks and in cabs. i have an old step van, old broke down house trailer that was cut in half to store my tools.

I would take it apart and put a fan on it to dry before putting on the charger.

If the rain drained the battery to zero volts you may need a new battery.

I have little luck bringing a battery with zero volts back to life

Blew it out with compressor and charged it. No problems.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the battery, my concern would be drying out the blower.

If they get wet. Do not use WD-40. It doesn't dry out and is not good for the glue and gel used in the batteries.

Compressed air or Die electric spray cleaner should be used to remove the water.

Lost a DeWalt impact driver off of the back of a SxS and found it about two hours later in a creek crossing. Been over two years now and both work as they should.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the battery, my concern would be drying out the blower.

Only the battery got wet.
