hardest thing to start, block heater is over a hundred/kinda hard to find, 44mm,, anyways, im thinking of a dipstick heater, Its the cold hydraulic oil that makes the thing so hard to cold start, idk if you would be better off putting a dipstick heater in the hydraulic tank rather than in the engine oil, ? cause it fires, just can't overcome the pull

Heating the coolant is best as heat in the cylinders helps more than warm oil. Dipstick heater to warm engine oil and one to warm hydraulic oil aid the coolant heater but can't replace it. JMHO

If ever needed I do have a original parts manual for sale for your DH4B trencher. jc

A dipstick heater will not help enough to make a difference (I have one myself) even if you have one in each compartment, as mentioned. I have even put two magnetic heaters on the oil pan of a 4cyl. engine. They are 200 W each and still hardly any help. The only heater that really made an impact was a 300W heater that was brazed into the lower side of the oil pan. It not only heated the oil effectively but seemed to warm up the whole engine. This was on an inline 671 Detroit Diesel which is not a small engine. You may find it easier to install some option of a coolant heater. Be sure your batteries are really strong too.
