Did I create a Major problem!!!!!

Several months ago, I asked posters on this board to help me after my Deutz D 6207 had a major electrical fire. I received some great help which I can't thank you all enough for. Now I think I have created a major problem due to my lack of knowledge while trying to rewire the tractor. In getting into the wiring under the dash I took off the side panel which included the lever that engages and disengages the pto. In doing so I can no longer engage the pto. My question in doing that, cause the pto clutch not to be able to engage or disengage? Will I now have to split the tractor or take the top off where the gear shifters are located? I realize this is not a well-known tractor but would appreciate any help or let me know someone who could. Thanks!!!

If its an electrical problem, how did you conclude splitting the tractor would help solve it? Try some logic, probably your re-wiring is messed up. Just a thought. Check again on the wiring.

Maybe try pulling that cover off again to see if something in the linkage from the PTO lever got messed up.

It's unclear what, exactly, is going on and what, exactly your problem is.

Did you replace the cover and lever, and now you are unable to engage the PTO? If this is the case, you missed something putting it back together. Will you need to split the tractor to fix it? Maybe, but hopefully not. If something "fell in" when you took the linkage to the lever apart, then you might need to split the tractor.

The lever either pulls a cable or moves some linkage, which engages the PTO. You need to get your eyeballs in there and observe what happens when you move the lever, see what is NOT moving, and determine why. Follow the "money" as it were. Ideally you would have observed and documented the operation of the lever and any associated cables and linkages BEFORE you took it apart, so you'd be able to troubleshoot better now. Hindsight is always 20/20, of course...
