did I screw this up??

Working on replacing the bull pinion (brake) seals on my Farmall M. Managed to pull everything out. 2 seals back to back inside what looks like a tin shim or spacer inside the housing. I wrecked everything getting it out. Do the new seals replace this tin shim, or do I need to replace it and the new seals go inside it? If so, where do I find this "tin shim"?

When I had weld on hubs put on my tractor. I replaced the axles seals and they were one piece and worked fine.

no but the new ones are thin they may look wrong but there not. the old ones are double leather I think I call them mother f"er seals they are hard to get out.

just replace with new single seal no shim.
