Diesel compression test

The other compression thread got me thinking, now I'm no stranger to this test on a gasser have done it many times anyway wanting to run this test on my 4500 201 3 cyl just to see the condition of it, no problems it starts just fine my question is,,,wile running the test on a diesel engine and doing one cylinder do you remove the other two injectors OR leave them in or it doesn't matter?

Makes it easier to crank. On a 6 cylinder engine, the battery would be half worn down by the time you got to the last one, which would affect the readings.

Right, but maybe not as important on a 3 cyl with a charger attached, but anyway yea noted and will remove all 3 before i test,thanks..

(quoted from post at 11:43:32 01/19/12) OK so remove all 3 injectors then do the test one by one????

just curious why is that??

It also protects you in case you left the fuel on and it started.

When you said it starts just fine you just answered your question
without having to perform the test. I bought a 3000 once and it
was a balmy day in the spring. The sales guy had to use ether to
get it to light off.

My education cost roughly $1700 when you figure new batteries
and starting wires, then a new 5" starter (had a 4), and finally bit
the bullet and did an inframe.....starts just fine now with no ether.

I knew it was a healthy engine when i bought her it starts fine in cool weather and good with thermo start in the cold weather but I'm just curious to see what it actually is.
