Diesel in crank case

Hello I just inherited a masey 135. Just checking fluids first thing and discovered the crank case is completely fuel of diesel and very little oil. I used and automotive paint strainer and found no sparkling
Seems to fun fine not exceptionally nosey

a great amount like that is usually due to the injection pump drive shaft seal leaking. Shouldn't be a big deal to replace it.

Thanks showcrop yeah I'm not concerned about the fix. I've read where they leaks most likely originate just co concerned about damage. I inherited this from my father-in-law who bought it new. He told me the fuel in the crank case has been like that for years. I re filled it with T4

How do you plan to use this tractor? Does it have good oil pressure now that you just changed the oil? Is there any knocking noises coming from it? So the diluted oil increases wear but to really accelerate the wear the engine needs to be working rather hard in my way of thinking. The cam and valve lifters probably sustain the most damage because they are constantly under the same load from the resistance of the valve springs. Only the engine bearings and the pistons, rings and cylinder walls and associated parts see more wear when the load in the engine is increased. Fix the problem that is letting fuel in the oil and I doubt you will have a bit of trouble with that engine.

The tractor has very little hard use as far as plowing. It's life has been on a small fruits tree farm. Mowing and PTO spraying.
No unusual noises in engine at all. I'm going to take this one step at a time after I can clean the extremely greasey engine I'll install a gasket set.

I have failed to welcome you to YT, so welcome! Since you’re new here we cannot be sure of what your level of mechanical knowledge is. You say you’ll “install a gasket set” that does not include the seal on the injection pump that may be causing your problem. Gaskets for the most parts contain fluids that may leak out to external surfaces of the engine. Sorry if I dumb this down to far but do a search on “gasket vs shaft seal”. To be honest I am not that familiar with the CAV brand of pumps Massey/Perkins uses on these tractors. I am more familiar with the Roosamaster brand used in other applications. On those the shaft seal is more of a oring than an actual seal. Those require disassembly to replace them which is not really a job for a beginner mechanic. Secondly, I will add that I believe your engine has a fuel supply or lift pump prior to the fuel filters. A bad diaphragm in this may also be a path for fuel to get into the crankcase. A breakdown of the injection pump is not shown to view the actual injection pump shaft seal.

I hope you have the inj pump seal replaced & new engine oil/filter installed before the engine crankshaft bearings are ruined from poor lubrication.

Thanks for the welcoming I really appreciate all the help and information offered here. Yeah my back is all from building hot rods. The only Diesel knowledge I have is mostly from my Dodge pickups. Although I've been around this tractor since new I've only worked on it with my father in law a few times. He put a new fuel pump on and the two of us bleed it. I just don't recall the process so there's a very likely chance I'll be here looking for help. I won't need the tractor before spring so this is going to be a winter project

I had an A/C XT190 that the engine locked up due to having diesel fuel in the oil due to a bad injection pump seal. I was able to free it up and once I had the injection pump rebuilt all was just fine

Thanks  old that's some great feedback and just what I'm hoping for. This tractor won't see serious work I mostly need it for my 6' mower and blade few times during summer

This XT190 was only fired up to show that it ran well and it was started one time too many and locked. That happened before I got it and I got it locked up.

I would start by replacing the fuel supply pump first before pulling the injection pump.
