Differential bearings

My engine overhaul is now much more but it will be great when I get it done. Steering gear is getting new bearings and sector seals also. Anyhow I pulled the left trumpet off to remove the lower arm pins as I'm replacing both of them. I was wondering about the big differential bearings. The cones look fine and I'm certainly not looking for more work though If they should be replaced now is the time to take care of it. I see no way of feeling for slack in the assembly. I replaced the right axle and hub several years ago and the left side hub fits tight though I'm replacing the outer bearing and seal while it's down. I've learned a LOT from the tremendous knowledge on this forum by just searching for topics.

The old bearings are probably better than any new ones you can buy run'em... It they had a issue it would show up on the race

I appreciate all the advice. The races look smooth and not scarred up. I'll probably just go back together as it is.

When the axles are in, if you turn each one by hand and you can't feel any roughness, they are good.
