differential problem/question

I do not know the correct name of the part in question...it is on the bottom side of the differential. It is a bracket with the bolt that holds the lower part of the 3 point in place/pivot.

There just seems to be one small bolt holding it to the diff. housing. That bolt broke, the bracket still will not come off. Its loose but it appears that the outside cover of the diff. will have to come off as it will not easily pull out. Hoping im missing something. Can someone tell me how this is put together and the correct way to take it apart?

I'm not familiar with your specific concern, however, here is a clip from a YT MEMBER

I think I got most of these from Dunk (RIP), I am sure they are somewhere on the internet. Someone asked in another thread for them, so I thought I would post them in a stand alone thread. These are a 9N, I have never seen pics like this for an 8N.

I believe you have to get inside to tighten the lower link pins, there is a nut inside the diff case and the pins are taper fit if memory serves. seems like people were saying pull the left axle trumpet, then you can tighten both. have never had to do mine on either tractor, knock on wood. if you search the archives for loose lower link pin you should find lots of how to's. I know ive seen posts on it before.

No excuse for not knowing the correct name; there are many copies of the n-series parts manual on the net for free download that will have you talking like a pro. For example, this one on camplulu :

ok...was hoping for a miracle cure but pretty much knew that wasnt gonna happen. Guess i will be taking this thing apart soon.

Anything else i should fix/look at/maintain etc while im in there? Prefer to do this only once.

Install sureseals while u are in there might be
something to consider--some folks will flip out
about SSeals but They Do work.
