dipstick

replaced a (c123)354898r3 block with a 354898r2 block.i noticed that the r2 block does not have a dipstick tube in the side of the block like the r3 does.
how do you check the oil in a r2? thanks

There are are two valves in the side of the oil pan. The upper is the "fill to" level and the lower is "add some more" if the oil does not come out when you open it.

What model tractor do you have? Should be a flat spot on side of block that needs to be drilled out and put dipstick there. Same spot as where it is on your old block. I have an M that has a hole there with a freezeplug there. Most blocks just have the flat spot. Should not be that hard to do. Armand

I drilled out a block on a 400 and added a dipstick to it. I used a 3/8 drill and it took the entire length of the drill to get all the way thru. I used a dipstick from a car. I shortened it and remarked the fliud level on to it.
