DIrectional valve for frontend loader trouble

I recently installed a Cross SBA22CC directional valve on the 4440 to have a joystick for the loader. I installed a power beyond block, ran hose to the in and out on the valve, connected my loader hoses as they should be and connected the joystick cables properly. When run the tractor, something is wrong. It appears that the hoses pressurize both up and down when I move the leaver eother way. This prevents the loader from lifting or lowering properly. Tilt does not work either. Tried to call Cross (913-433-4777), but they did not answer and you cannot leave a message. I am wondering if I received an OC valve rather than CC. If it is OC, would it act as it is?

I am thinking you have one tilt hose hooked to one lift hose in the block.

Hello pmach, welcome to YT! The open center valve would affect the operation of the rest of the tractors hydraulics. This is because it would be like the hose you have hooked to the loader would just be pumping the fluid as if you took the opposite end off and stuck it into the place where you fill the hydraulic oil. So the other functions would not be acting against the closed center stand-by pressure they are looking for. The essential systems of the tractor such as steering, brakes etc. have valves that separate them from the main SCV system so they are not affected. The loader would work as normal because when you move a lever the oil flowing through the open-center valve would be directed to flow to a cylinder. I think what the others are suggesting about the hoses being mixed up should be the number one thing to check. You are forcing oil to one end of a cylinder but since the opposite hose is not hooked to the correct matching port on that spool the oil can’t get out so the cylinders do not move.
