Disc Mower Curtain Material

I purchased a used Kahn disc cutter and the curtain is shot! I have priced the curtains and they are pretty expensive, so I was wanting to
know what type of material is used to make them. I want to try and make one of it will be cheaper. Your input is much appreciated. Thanks in

Made one out of a piece of a truck tarp. Worked good and sold mower. Still going strong.

I always thought a piece of epdm rubber roofing would work good for that, it is heavy enough it should stay where it belongs.

Used an awl from the feed store.

Ok, great. Is there a certain type of strong thread I can use that will last a few hay seasons of wear and tear?
