Disc mower questions

I have a disc mower and the book tells me how and why to adjust two springs 1 for the end of the bar and they other for the shoe pressure. I don't see in the book what is the shoe or bar end ground pressure is susposed to be.
Can someone help me out with that? I asume pretty much most disc mowers are set up the same?

Since you don't say what it is I assume that it is three point. They are all basically the same in that you need to have enough pressure so that if a shoe hits something it doesn't allow the mower to lift so much that it stays up six inches for two feet. My NH 411 discbine specifies 100 lbs. lift effort at each end. It needs to be set with the mower in extended position, and the right end needs a lot less spring tension to hold it down than the left end. The key is to have enough spring tension to keep the header from getting beat up by obstacles but not so much that it stays up and is cutting eight inches high.

The 3pt disc mowers that I've owned had a spring length in inches specified in operators manual when fully extended to set float of cutterbar.
