I replaced the original spring, you can see it in the other picture. I cut a piece out of a coil spring, also look at the new spring, those spaces IN BETWEEN THE COILS, are TO CHANGE THE TENTION AGAINST THE SOLENOID. Solenoid was not to happy until I did that,

The black spring replaced the original silver one. That spring holds the drain closed in the wash cycle. The solenoid overcomes spring tension, to drain on the finish cycle. It was not strong enough to hold the door shut, so most of the water went out almost as fast as it went in, easy fix. A repair man would have replaced the pump. I think the door seal got hard or swollen through the years. The shaft that the door pivots on was free,

Would a new solenoid have been a true fix (weak shorted solenoid) ???... Just wondering did you ohm the solenoid for the ell of it... Most of them are in the 100 to 300 range...

Nice job you are a better man than me I am the head dish washer don't mind it at all... You cook it I will gladly clean up your mess

The commercial Hobart bar glasswashers around here get busted glass in the main pump and the drain evacuation pump. No matter how many times you carefully explain how to lift out the filter screens so little bits of glass don't get down into them. Can't fix that stupid.

Hello Hobo,NC,

Did not need to get that high tech. Just a weak spring or
a tight door. Got a piece out of a coil spring, put two
hooks on it. First time the solenoid just hummed. After a
few coil separations,as you can see in the picture, less spring tension,it clicked every time. Washer cycled
just fine....clean dishes

Yes Jeffcat, I am always telling people how any horizontal shaft/motor machine like an ADS or a Bosch will outlast pretty much any vertical shaft machine.

Hello hermit,

I feel your pain. I am bit more handy then most I guess. Service man would have put it a new pump, which would have fixed it too. Rates around here are$95 for the call plus parts and labor. I saved a few dollars,
