Disk Blades

I have a 18 ft JD disk. I pulled it with my JD 5020, The tractor is gone. I still have the disk. I tried to sell the disk for 300.00 About scrap price maybe less? I told someone the price, Not real interested. Next option is sell the blades. It has maybe 15 23 inch, and maybe 15 22 . The rest are a few inches smaller. Probably fronts. I checked price for 24 inch blades. 70.00 ea. If I sell those 30 blades for 20.00 ea. that will be 600.00. Last time I bought 24 inch blades they were a whole lot less. what do you think my chances of selling used rusted blades? I would hate to waste my time taking my time taking the thing apart, then end up with a pile of blades. There are still a few people who still disk, it's finding them. Stan

Advertise them for sale. If you get a buyer then take them off.

I remember when low-end replacement discs were around $12 apiece, and the 4-gauge versions were just under $20. They were so cheap and plentiful once they got a little worn they would be replaced, and there was no trouble getting stacks hauled away for 4½¢ a pound. That was after using them anywhere possible , such as grinder/polisher stand bases, stanchions, lawn art, mud anchors, and any other welding practice.

Now that mixed scrap is about 7¢ a pound, you would think that discs would be up to about $20-25 apiece - In a perfect world. So much for logic.

Disc blade material and plow shares make good shooting targets.

Wrong time of the year or what for no sale on the complete disk? Surprised you didn’t get it sold.

If I’m going to go through the work of putting new blades on my disk I’m going to go new full size. Might be different where you are. Id only be interested in buying one or 3 to replace broken blades, don’t know if you want to piddle with small sales? Type of thing.

Good luck any which way. I’m sure brackets and spools and such have value also, but takes time to get together with those that need….
