dissapearring pushrod

our 350 case dozer just had its fuel pump rebuilt.
we ran it about a half an hour and it began to pop back through the air breather. took the valve cover off and the #1 cylinder is missing its intake push rod. Cant see it anywere. were did it go? think i can simply replace the push rod? whats anybody think?

Folded it up and stored it in the oil pan?? I believe I would check the movement of the valve, rocker and what the end of the lifter looked like at least.
