Good evening
Is there a problem with dist cap and rotor from a ford dealer? I installed dist cap, rotor, points and cond. No fire. I put old cond back in, still no fire. I put old cap and rotor back on, they looked like crap, corroded bad, should not have run very good, fired and ran immediately. Anyone else run in to that? Thanks, Lowell

Front or side mount? On the front mount, there are differences from one brand to another in the little button on top of the cap, where the little spring tab on the coil contacts (or doesn't).

If you expect to get any help info, you might at least tell us what it is you're working on. Just "Ford" does not cut it.

Oops, sorry guys. It is late and I was frustrated. I am working on a 8n side mount for a friend. Was running but not great. Points did not look good, cap and rotor were real bad. I have had trouble with ign kits from oschelns farm store. These looked just like those.

Now days a guy has to look at the fine print no matter where you buy stuff. If it says made in China say no thanks and got some place else. Me I buy most stuff at O'Reilly's due to the fact I have an account and they are about the only place in town other then Orchelns. Sad that stuff you buy now days are not worth the big buck you pay for them

Points either work or they dont.No middle ground. You say from Ford,no Ford tractor dealers left. You could get points, condenser and rotor and coil from a Ford auto dealer because those parts were used in cars and trucks.Old stock would be fine, new stock tends to be junk, almost made right.

It has been reported that New Holland has started buying some tractor parts from TISCO. Tisco is a low cost producer of tractor parts with a wide range of quality. In my experience ignition parts are not one of TISCO's better products. I buy tractor ignition parts from NAPA which sells Echkin parts or this site. I would call this site before ordering to see who they are now buying from. This site does have a return policy for some electrical parts which is a hassle but better then most suppliers.

change parts one at a time till you kill it. that's the bad part.

could be points.. could be rotor. cracked rotors short spark. some have malformed parts that strike dizzy cap or are insultated and don't let spark jump.

points.. if tisco.. are just plain junk. many don't strike square or line up good. some have bad insulators. their rubbibng blocks are soft..a dn their contacts corode badly and.. often...

tisco points ar ethe only ones I have to clean more often than once every few years. tisco points have to be cleaned at each run... or it won't run..
