Distributor cap

My 8n side mount started running really rough very suddenly so I started digging into the issue and I found that 3 and 4 were not consistent on firing so I pulled the plugs and distributor cap and found that the three and four tabs seem to be scared up. Do you think that that would cause it to have a hard time idling?
Here is a picture of them...

Had the same problem with my side mount about 10 years ago. Took it all apart and examined the bushing that was pressed in the base of the distributor cup that centers the rotor shaft. That bushing was egg shaped which made the rotor bounce when it rotated. I quickly turned a new bushing on my lathe and retimed, etc. and now it runs perfectly. It would have been forever and a day to get a new one from the NH/Ford dealer.

Codi........agree sudden ruff runnin' is electrical but NOT chur capple per yer pictures. Most likely yer points (0.025) Me? I'd clamp the corner of $1-bill (cheap) between the points and pull. Polish the INVISIBLE corrosion from between the points. 2nd point, you really don't wantchur rotor to touch yer dizzy points, air-gap is sufficient. Yer 20,000 volts will jump the gap quite eazily. And NO the "scared" contacts ain'tchur idle problem. .......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

I am having a hard time even getting it to hit. It's got spark and seems like it is getting gas. I am beginning to wonder if it is a timeing issue? I'm not sure. I'm lost and really frustrated.

nless you have changed the timing since it last ran, then that is about the last place you should be looking.

Well I kept digging and seemed like TDC was consistently not lining up with where it should have been on the distributor and seems to constantly change. The tractor backfires and runs horribly so I retimed the dizzy and ran okay for about a minute and began doing the same thing....it was way out of time every time I rechecked it. I pulled the dizzy out and was checking the gear and looks like there is a pin that goes through the gear and shaft which looked like maybe it has sheeted and the gear is slipping around. Here is a picture, see what you folks make if it...

(quoted from post at 14:58:19 10/12/15) How do I go about fixing something like that?
nock that pin out & install another. Check shaft & centrifugal advance in distributor for binding that may have been cause if shearing.

Is there a certain place I have to get the pin from? I apologize for my
ignorance, but I haven't worked on the gears in a distributor before.
