Distributor front mount 8n

I also do the replacement as a unit, making sure to orient the flat on the drive in the same direction as the cam. Then you can gently install and rotate the dist assy.until tou feel it slip in the slot. Then you're safe to bolt it on.---lha

I do mine one piece at a time, dist first, then cap and then coil. In fact I never remove the coil and the cap from the tractor.

I have sometimes removed it a a unit, from the left side, up thru by the radiator hose. I think I had to move the fanblade a little to clear.
I have had a coil fail because the spring like connector not seating correctly in the oval shaped screw in the top of the distributor, and felt that the entire unit replacement would eliminate this.
I just fixed a friends 9N with a new coil 6V, distributor cap and gaskets. Test show his coil was not the problem. The cap and rotor mating area was wore off, "NO GASKETS",not a shiney spring with sharp point, all resulting in not having "good continuity". Stars and runs beautifully and didn't even look at points, condensor etc.
