Distributor Removal and Replacement

What is the best way to remove and replace the distributor after I replace the copper primary without causing any additional timing problems.

This IS my first rodeo at this and I don"t want to screw it up too much.

Thanks,

Matt

Don't remove the wires from cap. Mark position of distributor housing relative to engine casting. Mark rotor relative to distributor body and engine casting.
As you remove the distr, the rotor will turn, because the drive gear is helical and you should put another mark on distributor at the point the rotor stops turning as you remove the distributor. This will be your rotor starting point for re-install. Do NOT turn engine while distributor is removed.

If you do, many of us can tell you how to recover, but you will be happier if you follow the above instructions.
