distributor weights

I replaced the distributor bushing on my side mount dist. last night. when I looked at the weights the pins on the bottom have a groove in them where they slid in the slots. obviously the best move is to replace, however can one weld the grooves up and the hone them to size? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks in advance.

one correctly it should be fine
