Having trouble starting my hand start 44 A. Thinking its in the carb. Takes about 15-20 turns on flywheel to start. Would like around 5 at most any ideas. I have new 3116's for plugs. Thanks

Clean the carb, especially the idle circuit & secret passage.

Then if it doesn't start easily, I'd check the mag's impulse. If it starts easily with a pull, but not by hand, it's likely the mag not generating a hot spark.

Glad to see your imput on Beatles issue. Do you really need to chew me out about my comment? I dont really give two shits about your opinion of mine...... I do value your knowlege.

Ok, your mag should throw a spark across a 1/4" gap or close to it. If it wont your problem might be your mag.
If good spark your probly right about the carb.

If its really cold that will affect it also.
My A will start good (about 3 or 4 turns) in a heated shop (at 45 F) every time. When left outside at 10-20 F its way different. It takes enough turns at full choke to blow fuel out the petcocks (about 5 or 6), then back the choke off just a hair another 5 turns and its running.
Dont ask me how I found it out but it will not start the same as when warm.
