Does a 4600 have enough power??

A friend wants to barrow my NH850 chain baler and need to know if his 4600 will have enough power to run it. The manual for the baler says 55-75HP needed. I run it with my Oliver Super 88 and it plays with it. So what do you guys think?? Thanks

Should run it fine. Fella here used to bale silage with an 848 behind a 4610. Basically the same tractor.

used to do with with a ford 3000 but could only run in 1st and 2nd gear....

My 63 4000 did it with the same bailer. Not fast by any means but it beats a mule farting in my face as my neighbor would say.

I am sorry but I was mistaken on the baler model. The baler I used was a square baler, New Holland 2?? I think. Not sure I would hook up to a round baler but I guess all you can do is try. Let us know how it goes.

Old, does your friend live in the flat part of the Ozarks? I wouldn't be scared to try it on flat ground but I would hate to start down a long steep grade with half a bale. 851 with a full bale in it used to make me pucker up some behind a 6700.

I live in hilly country. The issue is safety with a smaller tractor in hilly country. A bailer with a load of hay can push a smaller tractor around going down hills.

Load them rear tires with calcium or RimGard; put about 300# of wheelweights on each rear wheel, use some common sense, and bale hay!
