I don't have any pics of it, but I've got a firewood splittin' Case from Heck. It's a 446 garden tractor with a 3 point hydraulic splitter on the back. That thing works slick.

Cutting fire wood here a Clinton Camp Farm is a year round job. We have to feed the hungry monsters in the sap house each spring. Takes about 25+ cord of wood (1.5) per day. I used about 7 cord to heat my house this year so far and the wood boiler is still burning wood as I post. Both my uncles also heat with wood and oil.
We consume about 50 cord of wood each year. Dont take the cab trsctors in the woods much. Too big and aukward. The Kubota brings the wood out to the edges o the fields, and we split it there. Here is a few pics taken within the last 30 days.

Been meaning to, Dan, if for no other reason than to ogle your herd of tractors! I've been a little down on the economic side of life to get too far from home lately, though. Been hoping for a deal on some work building a guest cottage in the Hocking Hills area due west of you, though. I will be after it, if it's not too much to ask you to hold it, though, I'm just not sure when.

gusbratz & Loren that's beautiful country. how long will the logs last in that monster stove/cooker before needing a refill?

axe55,
The two boilers have to be restoked about every 30 min. We cut the blocks 30" long because that is the max our splitter will handle. As I said. we use about 1.5 cord a day to boil down the maple sap into syrup.

Loren ,
If you are burning that much wood , I'm assuming you have a few acres of timber ..
When you were posting your maple syrup runs it look like you have a few acres,,,

Do you put CHAINS on the front wheels to help pull the logs out or to help turning ??

do you ever get TIME OFF ?? with ALL you do I bet you enjoy a day off

Loren, thanks for all the photos and explanations on your wood-cutting adventures. Sure enjoy seeing the machines put to work. I"m partial to wood heat and have a boiler going to keep us all warm as well. Am proud of my splitter since Dad designed it and gave it birth. Will have to take some photos someday and see if I can upload them.

Mark,
The farm owens 1200A. About 800A tillable. The sugar bush covers 60A. and there are another 100A near by where I cut firewood. These woods are "managed" to forestery standards. Mother nature sometimes has other ideas. We lost a lot of good trees when the storms Irene and Sandy came threw. The rest of the nontillable, is on the upper farm across the valley, and the lower farm on the south side of US20. Both are about a 2-3 mile run from the farmstead. I don't think we will run out for a while. We have miles of wood lines along fields that require constant maintainance. My dad was the "Paul Bunyon" of the family, but I guess his boots got passed to me now.
