Hello Guys, I'm looking for a door mat that will stop this. It's all dirt around my place with a lot of DG. It has all these tiny rocks like from a 1/6" to almost a 1/4". Trouble is when coming into the house and up the steps, Any shoes I'm wearing (especially work boot) with the thick soles will catch those little rocks and tract them into the house. I have three entry steps with rubber door mats on each step. But these little rocks still get tracked into the house. I mainly just wear my socks inside the house and these little rocks hurt when I step on them and I have to bend and feel for the rock and pick it up.

What I'm looking for is one of those old bristley kind mats. I think they were over an inch thick. I'm not looking for any cutesy crap, just something that will scrape these little rocks from the bottom of my shoe. Doe this kind of mat even exist anymore?

these work great

(quoted from post at 13:17:31 03/23/22) I got mine at Ace Hardware.

"My What" who are you speaking to? Your post is directly below that picture. Is that what you're talking about?

You're looking for the wrong produce. The brushes won't get the rocks out of the lug sole. The real answer is to get a small seat to put outside the door and take the boots off before you come in.

We use "Clean Machine 10376908 High Traffic AstroTurf Dirt Trapper Doormat". It has long bristles that we find are more effective at cleaning the tread than anything else that we have tried.

Over 20 years ago I just fastened a scrub brush to the running board/step on the truck, so it would scrape scrub the dirt stones off my shoes when getting in. It was on the first step did a good job. On could be drilled, then screwed to the step or floor or mounted on a plate you step on with the opposite foot to hold it. The hard part was finding flat backed scrub brushes.

Today, floor scrubbing brushes made to screw on the end of a long handle would work for that. They are flat.

Use to use that one but the wood rots away in two years when rained on.

I like this one. The bristles are embedded in plastic and they flip to the side to expose a steel bar
scrapper.

I like that one. I have a mat coming today from McMaster. If that doesn't do the job, I'll order that one. Thanks much all you guys for your help.

What you are looking for is the old style COCO mats. They were used OUTSIDE of the school door, and another one inside. THICK coco fiber bristles. Amazon has some.

(quoted from post at 10:31:48 03/24/22) What is this conversation about? I thought it was about mats. But maybe I am wrong!!

This conversation is about getting the little rocks off my boots before entering the house. Sure, taking off the boots works but what about me having to run in and out of the house five times a day to get something I need?

Mats will load up and be useless, then you have a 40 pound mat to drag off the stoop and beat out.

Boot brushes let the junk fall to the floor to be swept away once in awhile.

A water logged mat will rot if natural fibers.
Any mat on wood deck will rot the wood no mater if raw wouod, treated, painted or other.

Your choic.
