Double Acting to Single Acting Spool Valve

Finally got my loader on the SC plumbed with a 3 spool valve. The fast hitch works as it should, but the loader has single act cylinders. I plugged the return on the spool valve that runs the loader cylinders. Lifts fine until it runs out of oil. Auxiliary reservoir will be installed next. The loader will not lower while tractor is running. Before I take off the cap (and get in trouble) on the valve, is there anything that I can change to make it single acting? Thanks in advance.

Plumb other opening on double acting valve to return oil to reservoir. Sometimes slows drop down more so when cold if on loader lift with no load.

You have internal pressure in the valve. Easiest way is to Run a hose from the unused port back to the reservoir. The valve is most likely designed for double action only.

Does there appear to be another port that is blocked or plugged not associated with the two ports matching to each valve handle? Your valve may be set up for “power beyond” use. You may have the port to return oil from the remote spools to the reservoir blocked. Usually to convert to non-power beyond use an internal plug or sleeve is removed, these are usually inside an existing port or behind a threaded step bushing. Is the valve used or new? If the valves cannot be switched to single acting then plumb them as D Slater suggests.

Brand new spool valve.

Thanks guys! I was thinking I may have run a line to the reservoir. I'm going to contact the seller of the valve and ask if it can be changed to single acting.
