Double crop beans

The neighbor finally got to combine his double crop beans today. Planted after wheat and then no rain for 3 weeks and not much over the summer. Not sure what they made but pretty sure the sandy spots didn’t have much there.

It's a big gamble, but I saw some beans planted after wheat around here, and they did pretty good, not as tall as first planting, I heard a few guys saying the biggest problem was the beans in the pods were very small.

I did mine about 3 weeks ago made in low 30's no rain after the last week of august but test weight was 59 lbs and i am just north of Interstae 80

I thought one reason for planting beans after wheat was to fix a little nitrogen in the soil for the following spring's corn.

There were some farmers in south central PA that would plant them without concern if they didn’t yield well because they liked how it set the ground up (tilth) for no-till corn. I imagine a little bit of residual nitrogen was also part of that.

Haven't priced beans lately, but if he could
get $10, it will pay for the combining.
Are you still pulling anhydrous? I'd like to
come over & have a look at the wide front.

Probably be done after Thanksgiving by the weather forecast. I drilled and tapped for another grease zerk in the top bushing that looked dry and put it back together so I could move it. Not that big of a job to take it back apart tho.
