Double Disc Furrow Openers

I"m fixing up an old JD/Van Brunt seeder. Not sure how to set the double discs. Should they touch at the bottom or have a small gap? I have significant movement (swing) in the bearings although they rotate smoothly. Touching would help keep things aligned.
I presume the scrapers (inside and out) also help the discs run straight?

i don't think there should be any play in the disk at all. probably some bearing surfaces are shot. the disk scrapers are to keep mud scraped off the disk and shouldn't touch them at all. if they do they will cut the disk into.

No adjustment on the disks and scrapers set to 1/8" away from blades

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds like the bearings are worn. I'll see if I can better adjust with paper washers.
