I drove Hwy 92 to get to Pella yesterday, just west of Sigourney there were many fields of flat corn with just a stray stalk standing here and there. Also 1 large bin destroyed. Pictures are while driving, its worse than it looks.

There is an area that is the same up by Oelwein. 90% the corn in the fields are less than knee high. Brother in law has 700 acres of it.

We live 8 mi. NW of Oelwein and a lot of Son's corn looks like this!!--Can I ask who your brother in-law is?---Tee

A mess!

Oh Man !! thats awful... I had to do a little research as to where this is. I do live in that area so the names where not familiar. Iowa & Illinois ??

There is a lot of very difficult corn throughout minnesota.

I have minor issue, I wont complain, when I drive even 5 miles it looks bad, 25 miles and its aweful.

Been there done that and it aint fun! Hopefully they have a kemper head.youd be surprised how much if it theyll get

Sure hate to see a crop anywhere that has been wind damaged. It takes all of the enjoyment out of harvest time. Periodically we'll have a major hurricane that'll do this to both the tobacco and the corn crop. It'll make you invent new curse words for sure and contemplate swallowing a gun barrel to try to harvest it.

Iowa. I posted about going to corn picking show in Pella, Iowa and this post was related to that one so I mistakenly thought that people would read both posts and figure out the towns were the same. Probably high wind and a tornado damage, I didnt see any other noticeable damage.

Ya--I know Darrell.700 acres--wow--too bad. My nephew works in the trailer shop on the South side of Fairbank and Wife's sister's husband works downtown by the bridge. Small world. Yea--Kerns sweetcorn got hit hard with hail in Aug. I think--Seen a pic of Blake holding a ear of sweetcorn all bruised up and said he wouldn't sell anymore this year. He was talking about how hard it is to insure sweetcorn. My wife's niece married Blake.--Thanks

I owned and worked at that business until 2013 when it caused me to have a heat attack. Had to sell because of the stress that was happening.

I have seen more down corn than normal this year. Dubuque IA, Denison Ia, Storm Lake Ia, and north of Windom Mn. are a few. The corn is standing OK in most of northwest Iowa though.

So you mean you owed and worked at Don's truck? Did you ever have any relation around Denver or Westgate?--Thanks---Tee

I've had down corn to pick before but none like that. So now you get the flexhead and hume reel out to pick it up some as you go slow due to all the extra material going through or just accept the loss?
