dozer blade for 8N

I"ve seen "dozer bladeds" on so ford 8Ns and wonder what can they be used for? Most pictures on this site talk about blading snow. Could they be used for dirt work and pushing brush around? How hard are they to find, a good one that is?

Although I have posted about plowing snow with my dearborn blade it is in fact a dozer blade. I don't know all the differences between a snow or dozer blade but mine does not have the springs that are seen on most blades pictured here. With chains on my 8N I have moved dirt and pushed down some small lodgepole pine. I have seen pictures of them being used for light road work and in my opinion that would be possible.

If you have a loader its pretty easy to make a dozer type blade that takes the place of the bucket or hooks to the bucket. I have a V plow I use on my 841 and it hooks to the bucket. But you can also use a loader to do what your talking about and also a lot more then a plain dozer blade will do

I have a 48 8N I'm in the proccess of fix 'in up. Doesn't have a loader or dozer blade right now but I probably want to add one or the other for some work I have planned. I'm in south texas and have a bunch of cactus and brush with 1+ inch "trunks" that need to be up rooted. Have to see what I can find, $ is an object...right now.

Tex........the lite-weight N-Tractor really don't have the "TRACTION" to PUSH a "dozer-blade", which is why it works as snow-plow as long as you have "chains". ...but... the 6-ft 3-point box-blade with "scarifiers" (heavy digging teeth) will ROOT deep and pull-up scrub-brush stumps. The 3-point configuration will "LOAD" yer reartires for added traction. And iff'n you loose traction, just raise yer 3-point lift abitt. Simple, eh?

You may need to be concerned with front tire "thorn" protection. (use slime) .......Dell

on the subject of slime...which is better...pump alot of slime in or just have the front tires filled with foam...from what I've been told it make the front tires like solid rubber ones.

I learned the difference this spring between snow blades and scrapers. When the snow thawed for good, I saw I had scored the crap out of my driveway as well as my neighbour's who I had "helped out" plowing during some big snow storms. Left nice long scrape marks in the new top coat we both put on last year. I noticed there's the odd chunk missing out of the curb and the sidewalk in the vicinity.

I guess the real snow equipment has those spring-loaded pads for a reason...

I offered to pay to resurface his driveway and I just about keeled over when he refused to accept it. He's a VERY laid back guy. Maybe I'll have it done anyway under cover of darkness...
