Draft Control on 2755 and 2550

Somehow I have lost the function on both my tractors at one time or other. Like to know how to get it back, or what do I need to do?
I always liked to use it when I'm blading and bush hogging.

Are you referring to depth control instead of draft control? Depth control gives the operator the ability to control the 3 pt hitch. Draft control gives 3 pt control over to the tractor.

Referring to draft control, depth works fine....I want it to control depth of implement over uneven terrain, just like moldboard plowing.

Draft control(as explained to me in JD sales meetings) was designed to keep a constant load on engine by sensing the load of the plow from depth & type soil. It will automatically raise plow to in tight soil & lower plow back to the set height. For draft control to operate properly it must adjusted properly both outside & inside the tractor. If it's not adjusted following a JD service manual then forget draft control.

On the other hand depth control should control plow depth depending on size of plow. larger plows also require a "depth gauge wheel"

So you are telling me I need to read a service manual? Guess I didn't know there was an "outside" "adjustment". Care to mention where it is?
2755 is a cab tractor and 2550 is open station if that matters.
What would make one of these loose that control? I know both of them used to work, but haven't now for several years and like I said in my post I use it on my rear blade and my bush hog. Not using a moldboard plow behind either.

Yes you or someone needs to read the TM & adjust L/D mechanism if you want the draft control to operate properly.

Outside adjustment is on 3 pt control handle. What causes L/D control to get out of adjustment is wear on cam & valve linkage inside plus wear on valve seats from being operated. Basically the same reason it's good maintenance to adjust rocker arm clearance on an internal combustion engine. The load control shaft that 3 pt arms attach to in bottom of diff housing has to flex(bend) to sense the plow pulling back. All these things get some minimal wear that adds up to get L/D mechanism out of spec's.

Ok thanks. I did get out the shop manual for the 2755 and found the screw adjustment below the pto shaft. Tomorrow I'll dig into this deeper and see if I can make an adjustment to get it back working again. I'll reply back when I find out something. This will be a big help when I use the back blade to level off a pile of dirt or stone.
