DRAG LINK DUST COVERS

I need to replace the dust covers on the rear drag links on my '51 8N. From reading this site, it sounds like the rubber ones don't last. I'm told that someone is making leather ones like the originals.

Anybody know who is selling the leather ones?

I too had a BAD experience with the "rubber" ones on two counts: 1. The metal portion of the seal did not fit and I had to grind it on its internal diameter extensively in order to get a fit. 2. The rubber tore loose after only a year or two.

You can purchase the leather dust covers from external_link.
Do a search by part number, using 3324.
Up will come: 9N3324, Leather Dust Cover (Rear Drag Link), fits 9N, 2N, 8N, etc. Price is 12 bucks plus S and H.

I put new leather ones on my 2N,they look good and should last a long,long time like the originals did.

I just put a new set of leather ones on yesterday. Followed Hobo's instructions to the letter--looked perfect--and I did not bend the metal rims over during installation, and I did not over-grease them, but the leather pulled out of the metal rims on one side right away.

Pretty disappointing. My opinion is that we are going to have plenty of complaints about the leather ones eventually.
