The underaxle adapter for the 9N is $55 and it provides four 5/8" mounting holes for bolting on the aftermarket SDA6 aftermarket swinging drawbar kit. Here is a picture of what comes in the full SDA6 kit.

Here is a picture of how the kit is mounted on an 8N that already has the mounting holes in the underside of the axle. On the 9N the adapter provides the mounting holes for bolting on the drawbar clevis (the part with the pin that connects the drawbar to the axle).

The rest of the kit bolts onto the back of the PTO as shown below.

For an additional $20 I can weld a shop made clevis to the adapter (like the on in the picture below) All you would need to purchase in addition to the adapter is the drawbar and PTO hanger.

TOH

cn't spak for TOH.. but in my area.. ther eis only pennies difference in GR5 and GR8 bolts in bulk.. I usually go GR8 myself.. even into cast. saving 12 cents on a handfull of bolts oing GR5 just don't make 'sense' to me... though I'm guessing GR5 would get you there under normal circumstances.

On the other hand. the bolts he is using might see soem shear /side loads the way he's mounting the hanger.. so maybee he engineered for that.

TOH is a smart dude...

Just cost engineering:

Total cost for six grade 8 bolts = $3.36
Total cost for five grade 5 bolts = $3.00

I have given up stocking any grade 5 hardware to save on bin space.

same thing I'm seeing then.

back when I had to drive and my only optins were mom n pop stores. there was a wider cost difference on graded hardware.

now that i have tsc and northern tools, and fastenall all within 15 miles or less.. and all have bulk hardware. as you point out. cost for gr5 hardware is just pennies under gr8

Now I do see a jump at GR10.. but expect that... etc. only buy that when i need it for specific applications.

Same here. Grade 8 is pennies difference.
Other than bulk carriage bolts/lag bolts for wood I don't
put much of anything together with anything else now.
Just don't see any benefit.
Even if it were more expensive, I'd probably spend the
money when it came to towing heavy loads though.
