Dump Trailer that Won't

I've got a Kaufman 6' X 10' electric dump trailer that all of a sudden, won't dump. The battery is charged, the motor sounds like it normally does when I press the dump button and when I have the dump button pressed, I can feel tension on the hoses leading to and from the cylinder. However, although everything sounds normal, the bed fails to rise when the dump button is pressed.

Any suggestions? This trailer is a daily user and it's a real pain when it doesn't work.

Thanks

If it is over loaded sometimes the relief vales will not lift the load.
The pump could be not providing the pressure or volume needed. Could try hooking it to a tractor to lift it if it is not the over loaded problem. A tee in the line should do it and allow you to go either way for lifting.

Is the trailer loaded or empty? Does the pump pull down like it's working or just run free? Have you greased the pivot points? If it's pulling like its working it could be over loaded or the relief could be set to light. It does have oil in it right?

The controls are two push buttons on a long cord. When the "dump" button is pushed and held, teh motor sounds like it is dumping but nothing is happening.
The reservoir is full of oil
The trailer is only used to haul and dump equine stable litter, 2 or 3 loads each day and has been in operation hauling manure since January 2009 with no issues except for having to replace the solenoid.
There was no prior indication of a problem, i.e. slow or "labored" dump operation.

There is likely to be a electric control valve on it and good chance it is no longer working as it should since when you push the dump button it should move to cause fluid flow to the cylinder and when you lower it it should cause fluid flow to the hyd tank

What brand and model of pump do you have? Have you checked for power to the valve? I'm with old, sounds like a pump issue. Post pics of your pump would help too.

If it's loaded, try moving some of the load closer to the pivot to take some of the load off the hoist.

Since it has electric controls, my guess would be the "lower" solenoid is either mechanically stuck open, or for some reason it is getting power when it shouldn't.

To raise the bed, the pump motor should run, the lowering solenoid should not have power (normally closed valve).

To lower the bed, the pump motor should not run, the lowering solenoid should have power, opening it to tank return.

I have electric over hydraulic wheel lift on my tow truck it has in/out, up/down functions. every time I have had a issue its been a switch and I can tell by the electric motor its in a strain. Its dead headed because the switch is not operating a hydraulic valve.

In my case and yours it should be a simple check to see if the controller is commanding lift are dump. I have had this set up since 1980 its hauled thousands of vehicles I tote a few replacement switches every 10 years are so a switch will fail. Other than rebuilding both lift cyl once I have never had a motor/hydraulic issue it always been a switch issue. That being said I run two big arse battery's in my case using one is asking for trouble.

are google electric over hydraulic pump wiring

we have a tilt trailer that has hydraulic tilt,,,if the battery isint fully charged it wont work,, sounds like the motor is straining when battery is low

put booster on battery bet it goes up mine does same, battery reads voltage till you put load on it,ten falls on face. thats what i would do fist if everything else is the same, load position, amount of load etc.

"I can feel tension on the hoses leading to and from the cylinder"

Key word here is "from". If you're getting tension in the return line when you press the raise button, that would suggest that the piston seals in your hydraulic cylinder are blown, and the hydraulic fluid is bypassing the piston and returning to the tank.
