Dust

Today I did my monthly mowing job for the land developer, to keep the sensitive California protected plant from growing. This plant, the california coastal sage, is what this special protected bird, the California Nat Catcher makes it's nest in, or eats. The ground is very sandy, and just driving over it this time of year causes dust. There is a group of houses that is going to lose some of their ocean view if the housing project goes through, and are trying to stop the project. I see this person watching me from the road. The guy I work for talked to him, and said this guy repersents the people about to lose some of their ocean view. I'm sure he took a few pictures of the dust, to use against the developer to try and stop the project, and probably fine the company I work for, or me who knows. As crazy as this state is anything could happen. Hope your state has more sense. How does your state deal farmers who make dust? Stan

I fail to see the connection between farmers and land developers/speculators. No-till farming was introduced decades ago.

Such a big question. People living in homes upset other people are going to get homes.

People with an ocean view upset other people want an ocean view.

Kind of funny when you think about it.

I don’t want to control everything, just everything I can see……

My state is divided into the rural southern areas, the wilderness northern areas, and the 4-6 tiny but over populated urban areas that run everything while understanding nothing.

Wish we were 3 states and could take care of our own situations. I don’t know much about urban issues while I have opinions my ideas on them are probably uninformed and poor - but the same can be said about their opinions of how my world should be - yet they have the power to put in their uninformed ideas.

Dispatch would tell them to go back to California probably wouldn’t even make it to the county deputy is how my state would deal with a complaint

There’s actually a little info page on their website for people who move to the country about how the roads are unlikely to become paved if they aren’t already and that farmers have strange hours

Last vear, driving I 57 in Illinois about half way to the top of the state, I encountered dust storms from worked and planted fields. Later in the year, farmers with their 40 plus foot combine heads made such a dust cutting soybeans that people were slowing down because they couldn't see.

Just as long as you don't leave a rut in that soft sand! Because if you do leave a rut, when it does rain, the rut becomes a vernal pool, habitat for the endangered ferry shrimp!

Potential connection not that complicated or obscure. Farmers , historically, have land as a component of operations. Land developers, and or land speculators my seek to develope, and or speculate on... wait for it....Land.

Agree, the employer isn't farming. Its a local issue.
