dying problem

I have a 1966 Ford 3400 Industrial tractor that has a dying issue. It will die for no apparent reason. Hot or cold doesn't matter, will start
back up and run for a couple of days and be fine and then sporadically begin dying again. Anyone with any info or any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Gas or diesel can make a difference as to the problem.
Have a friend who has a 4600 diesel that would do that and the problem was the fuel hook up at the bottom of the tank had the stand pipe broken off of it so it was getting fuel from the very bottom of the tank and in turn shucking in dirt and other junk so it would run fine that all at once die. Installs a new fuel hook up for the tank and installed it and he has not had any problem since

If diesel the problem is most likely fuel blockage. if gas, more likely to be ignition. Try installing a temporary ignition wire from the battery to the coil with a toggle switch, and of course a fuse next to the battery. if that makes the problem go away you know that close inspection of all connections is next. Conventional wisdom is to check for spark immediately after it dies, but the way your's starts again soon this test could be misleading.

yes just as soon as it dies you can start it back up right away. have had test light and and meter to check things and can not get it to die
and not start long enough to check any thing. all ignition parts are new i thought that would correct the problem but it has not.

Check the wire that goes from the coil to the points for any place where it might have the insulation rubbed off and be sitting close to a ground point, especially where it passes through the body of the distributor if the grommet is worn or missing.

How it dies can be telling. From my experience in automotive, if they stumble a bit and die it could be related to fuel. If they die like you shut off the key it was probably ignition related.
