What is the front bucket width on a early model dynahoe 490? Also what would you guys suggest for hauling it trailer size? And what's the width outside the tires for trailer hauling.

How many were made? I know there a dying breed but any information on these 490s would be 👍 appreciated!
Between the 490 and the 490-K only 32 machines were made from 1990 to '91. The 490 is a newer version of the 190 model. They are heavy brutes to be sure, you do need a decent size trailer. I don't have any particulars on measurements. To be sure you may have to allow close to 8' for front bucket width. One positive point about the Dynahoes is that they are common component machines, like Detroit engines except at the end they had John Deere power as well. The diffs are Rockwell and so on. As competition was quite hot, their last backhoe was made in 1993.

To be safe I would expect to need something like a 35-ton detachable neck lowbed for a 490. It likely weighs around 13 ton, and I am thinking it is in the 8 foot plus wide range. If it has the cab height can be an issue as well as height of the folded hoe.

Are you looking at buying one, or just curious? If you are looking at purchasing, I suggest you go look at it; they are large to say the least.

Since the 490 was basically an updated 190-4 here is a brochure page for the 190-4. It should give you an idea. Front bucket and shipping width was 8 foot. The 490 seems to be a couple tons heavier, I don't know where the weight gain was. Also a link to a sold 490 on Bigiron, has some good info and pictures.

I found my original brochure. Weight difference is because 20720 lb weight for the 190-4 doesn't include weight of cab.
