A youtube video says that the job needs an E12 socket. I have standard and metric sockets. Will a metric socket fit this newer style socket or do I need to buy another set of sockets.

E Torx is an external Torx socket, instead of the bit type Torx which is internal. Welcome to the buy another set club.

1948,

Thanks for that link. I had no idea about the plus screws. I'm not going to run out and buy another set of torx wrenches right now, but at least I'll
know what to look for in the future.

Good morning, Phil Tibbetts and others: I used to have the same mind set. Finally realized it is a moving target, when we learn everything, then "everything" increases.

I went to repair my walk behind snow blower and I had to go out and buy a set of E Torx to get the shrouds off. Not sure why ordinary bolds or even torx screws wouldn't have worked , other than the manufacturer doesn't want you working on the machine , but instead favours the dealer doing the service. As other posters said its a Go buy some more tools situstion .

i know im opening a can of worms but here goes i had same problem working on sons car HARBHOR FREIGHT has cheep sets and did the job
