Early 1900's? Well Drilling Rig

I stumbled on this old well drilling rig today. It was at a farm place in the middle of nowhere in Washington. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I know some of you might enjoy seeing it. If anyone's interested, it's for sale. I know the farmer is taking offers.

There used to be a few of them sitting around in the area I'm from, but most of them mounted on trucks, old trucks. There was one on some
land that dad bought that was on a Dodge Brothers truck. What year did Dodge drop the Brothers from their name? It had an air compressor
made out of and old 6 cylinder flat-head engine, with a check valve in each spark plug hole, camshaft taken out and very weak valve
springs, guess it worked OK.

It is hard to tell from that Pic, but I'll be that it was a pounder not a driller. There was this older guy that I knew that had one. He pounded a well for my neighbors while they were on vacation. It took him all of five days. Later he went to work for the leading driller in the area an his chauffeur and aide de camp.

I did some more digging. Apparently this is known as a "cable tool" rig. Google cable tool drilling rig and you get some neat old photos of rigs.
