I posted a message a couple days ago about having bees in the bell housing of a WD-6 I just bought, but now I have another question. My tractor's serial number is 641, and from what I understand, the first serial number was 501. I don't know much about these diesels, but I was told that mine has the early American Bosch injector pump. Does anyone happen to know a rough estimate of how many tractors had this fuel system? Does that make it more rare/desirable?

It's definitely a unique tractor to have in central Texas, where you can find just about any row crop tractor you want, but standard tractors are almost nonexistent - let alone a diesel.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Not sure on how many had that pump, but i know of a early W-9, i believe it had a Simms Pump, on it, It still runs like a champ.

They look like they must be cut-off iron wheels. They welded that band around the rim because they had a set of dual wheels for it. I've gotta go back later to get them because they were full of bees.

Bosch pump was used enough to not be real rare. But the type you have is a early model and that type water trap was only used to WD6 engine serial number 1574. Think the pump oil fill type was only used a good bit earlier than that.

the front hubs are not original either. that tractor had to of been on full steel at one time.

What is up with the notched out hood and filter setup?

First style american bosch fuel system. The
large filter canister required notching the
hood, only the very early wd6 had this.
Believe the serial number on this tractor
wdbkm 641.
